Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our services and how we work.
What if I'm not sure where to start?
That’s completely okay – many of our clients feel the same way. We offer a free 20-minute consultation where we’ll listen to what you’re going through, answer your questions, and help you find the right support. There’s no pressure and no obligation.
Is therapy confidential?
All sessions are completely confidential within organisational guidelines and professional boundaries. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, and we adhere to strict ethical guidelines to protect your information.
What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy addresses emotional and psychological difficulties with a skilled practitioner. Coaching is focused on personal development, goal setting, and growth. Our men’s coaching service is a non-therapy service designed to support direction, discipline, and development.
Are sessions faith-based?
Our approach is faith-aware but always client-led. If faith or cultural considerations are important to you, we can integrate them into your support. If they are not, that is equally respected. You are always in control of your experience.
Can I choose a male or female practitioner?
Yes. We understand this is important for many of our clients. You can filter practitioners by gender on our team page, or let us know your preference when booking a consultation.
How does online therapy work?
Sessions take place via secure video call from wherever you feel most comfortable. All you need is a private space and a stable internet connection.
What is the free 20-minute consultation?
The free consultation is an introductory conversation where we discuss your needs, answer any questions, and help you find the right support. It does not include therapy or counselling – it’s simply a chance to see if we’re the right fit.
What happens after the consultation?
After your free 20-minute consultation, your practitioner will recommend a support plan tailored to your needs. You can then book regular sessions at a pace that works for you – there is no obligation to continue.
Do I need a diagnosis to access support?
No. You do not need a diagnosis or referral to access our services. Whether you’re experiencing a specific difficulty or simply want to improve your wellbeing, you are welcome to get in touch.
Are services available for children?
One-to-one services are for adults (18+) only. For younger audiences, educational workshops and community sessions are available. Please get in touch for more information about group programmes for schools and youth organisations.
Is this service suitable for all backgrounds?
Absolutely. Takween welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, beliefs, and communities. Our practitioners are trained to work sensitively across diverse cultural and faith contexts. Faith-aware support is always optional and client-led.
